ANDthis diploma was passed in a final vote by the parliamentary right, with the opposition of the benches of the left, but was then vetoed by the President of the Republic, António José Seguro, last June.
“ We take into account all the questions raised by the President of the Republic”, said the Vice-President of the Social Democratic bench António Rodrigues to Lusa.
As regards the proposal to amend the CDS, the PSD adds a point in the third article in relation to the “allowed flags”.
“ Flags that symbolize international commitments made by the Portuguese State as long as their use takes place in the context of official initiatives, celebrations or campaigns promoted or recognized by public entities and have no political-party or electoral nature”, reads in the text proposed by the social-democratic bench, to which the Lusa agency had access.
In the veto text, the President of the Republic referred to the importance of flags that symbolize humanitarian causes and also to instruments of international law binding Portugal, case of the United Nations.
