“ Cwe consider it necessary to continue to promote, together with our BRICS partners, the improvement of UN performance. Of course, the enlargement of the Security Council and the inclusion of representatives from countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America would help in this direction,” Putin said, quoted by Eph.
The Russian leader, who on the eve met with several leaders who attended the summit in New Delhi, said that the formation of a multipolar world faces several challenges.
According to Putin, this is due to the “resistance of those who are accustomed to thinking in colonial terms, essentially dividing the world between a flourishing garden and a wild jungle and living at the expense of others”.
“ They refuse to accept the changing reality and seek to contain their growing competitors by all possible means. They use all kinds of tricks, including tariff wars, illegitimate sanctions, attempts at economic dictatorship, blackmail, interference in internal affairs and simply brute force,” he said.
In addition, Putin added, old tensions are being revived, causing new conflicts and differences.
“ As a result, the entire system of international relations is failing. The effectiveness of various multilateral structures and institutions is decreasing,” he said.
“ In view of this, Russia attaches exceptional importance to the preservation and strengthening of the central role of the United Nations in world affairs,” she said.
The BRICS group has as members Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.
