“ O main reason for complaints about digital services was the suspension, restriction or removal of accounts or contents by providers, on the basis of alleged infringements of the law or its terms and conditions, considered undue by the recipients of the services”, reads the regulator’s statement.
Complaints related to the denunciation of illegal content totaled 20 occurrences (17% of the total) and doubled against the second quarter of 2025. In turn, the complaints handling processes motivated 13 complaints (11% of the total), corresponding to an increase of 86%.
Meta platforms are responsible for more than 50% of the complaints registered in the period under review. Facebook leads, representing 30% of total complaints, followed by Instagram, with 25%.
Next is platform X, with 7% of complaints registered in this period, and Google, with 6%. The remaining complaints were distributed by more than 20 other intermediary service providers.
The vast majority of registered complaints concern very large platforms (69%) and platforms established in other Member States. In the period under review, 53 complaints were transmitted with indications of infringement of the Digital Services Regulation to other Digital Services Coordinators, in particular to Ireland (43 complaints).
