Paris today fulfills the third consecutive night of mandatory curfew, limited to two central areas of the city, the most affected by the looting and vandalism acts that occurred last weekend, announced the French Police Prefecture.

“ By determination of the Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, and the Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, the mayor of police decreed the curfew – which prohibits the presence of both adults and minors – in the areas of the square of the Republic and Les Halles, between 23:00 today and 06:00 Thursday (22:00 and 05:00 in Lisbon) ", indicated the City Hall in a message published on social network X.

The restriction on circulation is similar to that applied last night, which was already less comprehensive than that implemented on Monday, when areas close to power centers were included, such as the Elisha Palace and the National Assembly.

Other French cities, such as Nice, in the south, and Bordeaux, in the southwest, also maintain curfews in certain neighborhoods, but only for minors who are not accompanied. The measures will be in force by 26 this month.

Marseille, in the south, and Lyon, in the southeast, which were subject to curfew in the last two nights, have not yet announced whether they will prolong the measure.

The restrictions aim to stop looting and looting in the margins of last Saturday's demonstrations against rising cost of living and the degradation of health and education services, which have caused damage in at least 3,000 businesses.

Of the little more than 2,500 arrested in disturbances throughout France – 95% men and 70% adults – 174 were in custody, according to the latest data of French Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin.

The authorities again put themselves on alert following the new mobilization now called by the “yellow vests” for next Saturday.
