Punishment and fine imposed by the Council of Discipline on Cristiano Ronaldo, for having abandoned the stage of national selection, also makes headlines in the international press. Short suspension and reduced value cause strangeness out there.

In turn, the BILD, from Germany, goes further and even considers that Ronaldo has reason to smile at the value of the fine received.
“Christian Ronaldo can only laugh at the situation! The Portuguese Football Federation concluded, this Monday, the disciplinary process against the cracker (41 years) and applied a very mild punishment”, writes the German newspaper.
In England talkSPORT also highlights the “insignificant punishment and irritable fine” applied to Cristiano Ronaldo “for abandoning the Portuguese selection”.
“ It is unlikely that Ronaldo's derisory fine will weigh much in his pocket. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid stakeholder earns £225.5 million a year between wages and trade agreements. This means that it will only take 30 seconds to recover the 215 pounds that will have to pay Portugal for the fine”, points to talkSPORT.
In Italy, the Gazzetta dello Sport projects the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to the selection already in November, since 19 days have already been discounted from the suspension of 30.
“ The Portuguese captain remains, thus, 11 days of suspension unfulfilled, which will end on the next day 30 October ", highlights the Italian newspaper.
A RMC Sport, in France, also exploit that side, but it does not fail to indicate that the Council of Discipline applied the minimum penalty to CR7.
“ This sanction will not prevent even Cristiano Ronaldo from participating in the next two games of the Portuguese national team, in front of Denmark, on 14 November, and Wales, on 17 of the same month”, stresses the French publication.
What did the CD say?
In the judgment, issued on the afternoon of Monday, the Council of Discipline announced the punishment of Cristiano Ronaldo, after having instituted a disciplinary procedure on October 10.
“ In these terms and on the grounds set out above, the Council of Discipline – Non-Professional Section – of the Portuguese Football Federation decides, in the present case, to fully judge the accusation and, consequently, to condemn the Arguido Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro for the practice, for once and for the first time, of the disciplinary infringement provided for and sanctioned by Article 160(1) of the RDFPF, applying, as a result, the suspension penalty for 30 (thirty) days and, aptly, the penalty fixed at 2,5 UC, i.e. € 255.00 (ducents and fifty-five euros)”, can be read.
CR7 spoke to Proença after leaving the internship
In the same judgment, the CD also reported the events of September 30th, the day when CR7 abandoned the internship, revealing that the captain of the selection only informed Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation, about his decision later.
“ Arguido did not previously report or justify, before the head of the FPF or the national male selection, his intention to leave the stadium and internship. After leaving the stadium, the defendant Cristiano Ronaldo communicated expressly to the president of the FPF, by telephone, his decision not to remain integrated in the stage of the national selection, expressing the intention to abandon the work of the team ", says the CD.
