A delivery took place, as usual, with the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), according to the source, which did not specify whether Kyiv also transferred to Moscow remains of Russian soldiers who were in Ukrainian custody.
The remains will now undergo an identification process to be delivered to the soldiers' relatives.
Russia and Ukraine regularly exchange bodies of soldiers, often in unequal numbers, depending on the number of dead fighters held by each side.
This delivery of bodies announced by Kyiv is the first transfer between Russia and Ukraine since American mediators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow and Kyiv on September 5 and 6.
In these types of meetings, exchanges of bodies and prisoners of war are usually agreed upon.
