O increasing cost of RAM memory components has forced consumer electronics manufacturers to make difficult decisions, notably by raising the prices of their equipment. Samsung is no exception and apparently the company will even have decided to cut production of medium-range mobile phones.
The South Korean website says so Electronic Times, which states that Samsung has decided to reduce the production of Galaxy A phones by 20% during the fourth quarter of this year. It is speculated that this means 10 million less cell phones produced.
South Korean technology may not be around and rumors are already circulating that Samsung will be able to perform another production cut next year around 10%.
It's important to remember that, at the beginning of the month, they started circulating rumors that Samsung could reduce the production of their mobile phones by up to 30%.
The report that had previously circulated from IDC indicated that instead of the 59 million mobile phones produced by Samsung in the third quarter, the company would produce only 52 million devices in the fourth quarter – thus resulting in a fall of about 12%. However, the reduction will be greater than was thought.
Remember that, according to TrendForce data, 12GB of LPDDR5X memory came to cost 145 dollars (130 euros) in the second quarter of the year – equivalent to triple the price a year earlier.
Samsung’s decision is mainly due to the fact that, apparently, the company is not making a profit when selling its phones. Whoever says it is a source close to the Money Today industry.
“ Due to increasing memory and semiconductor prices, Samsung’s mobile phones do not currently generate any profit when they are sold”, says source of the Money Today website.
