O Skoda Fabia it is an affordable compact hatchback, originally introduced in 1999 and currently in its fourth generation. In the future, it may have an electrical equivalent, and it is currently a combustion model.

And that will eventually pass through the future addition of electric motors. Cited by the publication Autocar, Skoda executive director Klaus Zellmer said that the combustion model will continue to be produced, like others, until the early years of the next decade, but admitted: “We need replacements like an electric version of Fabia“.

In the group, the Volkswagen brand assumes the segment of incoming electric hatchback, while Skoda covers combustion, according to the leader. But this one considers that despite a good level of demand, Fabia will eventually have to be reconsidered: “This car needs to be a replacement in our portfolio. What's it gonna be? Is it at a price level below 20,000 euros or just above? We haven't made any decisions yet. But this is an area we need to cover“.

And Klaus Zellmer compared the entry into the range of a brand to the access of a building: “They come to a certain level and, if you increase your first step too much, no one will go in the house. This is why we will have to find an electric version of Fabia”.

Skoda's current range has been electrifying, but the cars 100 percent electric are SUVs: Elroq, Enyaq and the latest Epiq and Peaq.

At the moment, there is no hurry for a decision on the future of Skoda Fabia, not only because the market evolution is very uncertain, but also because the current combustion model remains “perhaps until 2034”, according to Klaus Zellmer.

Indian Skoda announces debut in the segment that brand does not have in Europe

Skoda renewed its Slavia Berlina, available only in India. And it claims two premieres in the segment – one of them is the rear seats with massage function, which do not exist in European models.
