O engadget site published an article on the subject and it's worth wasting some time to realize if it pays to activate the Mobile Airplane Mode in exchange for more power to the battery in a short time.
First of all, you should remember what plane mode does. This functionality was developed to comply with the regulations of the companies areas and cuts any type of communication. Whether Wi-Fi or mobile data, any connection is cut off and the phone is effectively isolated without receiving any message, call or notification.
Some people consider Aircraft Mode a good way to prevent receiving calls and messages when they need to focus on work, but the presence of dedicated options for this purpose renders it irrelevant for this purpose. Nevertheless, it is indeed true that activating Airplane Mode has a positive effect on battery consumption by preventing the phone from constantly searching for the best signal of communications.
Taking this into account, it is natural to activate Airplane Mode also has beneficial effects in the time it takes to charge the battery. However, according to the publication, we are talking about gains between 4 and 11 minutes in battery charging times – whether they are newer or older phones.
