O singer and bassist of the Xutos & Pontapés felt unwell at the end of a concert in Penamacor on Saturday, following “an episode of dehydration”.

The band said this Sunday that Tim “was promptly assisted on site by the INEM team and later evaluated at Castelo Branco Hospital”.

“Tim is well and is already at home recovering,” said the group, in a statement released on social networks.

The band also thanked “all messages and concern for everyone, as well as the support and professionalism of the INEM team, the organization and the Hospital de Castelo Branco”.

The tour “Right to the Desert” started in Beja, with a show integrated in the celebrations of April 25, and extends until September with dates in locations such as Porto (in Queima das Fitas), Lisbon (Rock in Rio), Monção, Albergaria-a-Velha, Évora, Faro, Penamacor, Cantanhede, Ribeira Grande in the island of São Miguel (Monte Verde Festival), Trancoso, Góis, Coruche and Porto D’Ave in the municipality of Póvoa de Lanhoso.

“Right to Desert” is the sixth studio album by Xutos & Pontapés, composed of nine themes, including “Game to Push”, “Tonto” and “Little”.

The Xutos & Pontapés are one of the most enduring Portuguese rock bands, having emerged 47 years ago, from January 13, 1979, the day they gave the first concert at the Alumni Ballroom of Apollo, in Lisbon.

At the time, the group, which was called Delirium Tremens and then Kisses and Congratulations, was part of the young Zé Pedro, Kalú, Tim and Zé Leonel, influenced by punk rock that came into force in the foreign music scene.

Forty-seven years after the first concert, the group persists in Portuguese music with over a dozen albums and many songs that serve as anchor for a rock clan with thousands of fans from several generations.

Even after the death of guitarist Zé Pedro, in 2017, the band remained active, on stage and in studio, with Tim (vocalist and bassist), João Cabeleira (guitarista), Gui (saxophonist) and Kalú (batista).

Xutos & Pontapés went on stage for the first time 47 years ago. You know where?

The Xutos & Pontapés first climbed the stage almost half a century ago. Today, January 13th, precisely 47 years ago, one of the most iconic rock bands in the country was born. On social networks, the group recalled the moment.
