In September, “the total number of ‘lay-off’ situations with retributive compensation, (normal concession, according to the Labour Code), was 3,756”, according to the synthesis prepared by the Directorate-General for Coordination and Planning (DGCP, former GEP) of the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security.

In the chain comparison, a decrease of 704 processed benefits was observed, resulting in a retreat of 15.8% compared to that recorded in August, after two consecutive months of increases.

According to DGCP, the working hours reduction scheme covered 1,762 people, minus 26.1% compared to September 2025 (less than 621 benefits), but an increase of 22.8% (more than 327 benefits) compared to the previous month.

The temporary suspension regime, on the other hand, showed an annual increase of 5.4% (more 102 processing), but fell 34.1% from August (less than 1,031 processing), totaling 1.994.

In September, the ‘lay-off’ benefits were processed to 173 employers, which corresponds to a fall of 180 compared to the homologous period and a decrease of 48 entities from August.
