A Ukraine is under increasing pressure due to the intensification of the Russian air campaign, which uses ballistic missiles and jet drones to penetrate defenses. Moscow's attacks target the Ukrainian power grid before winter, in a strategy that, according to the authorities, aims to demoralize the civilian population.
Two people died and one was injured when Russian drones hit a residential area of the Ukrainian city of Zaporíjia overnight, regional governor Ivan Fedorov, quoted by Associated Press, reported today.
One person died and three were injured in attacks against Kryvyi Rih, according to local authorities.
In the port of Odessa, in the Black Sea, and in the surrounding area, 28 people were injured in an attack that the regional governor, Oleh Kiper, classified as “soft.” Among the buildings affected was a residential building of several floors, whose upper floors were completely destroyed.
On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that any deployment of European troops to Ukraine would amount to “a war against Russia”, while ensuring that Moscow does not threaten European countries.
“ Today, they [European leaders] say they are analyzing how to send troops into Ukrainian territory. This means a war against Russia,” Putin, quoted by Russian news agencies from New Delhi, attended a BRICS summit.
“We do not threaten or intend to threaten European countries. Why would we? Nobody even realizes that we have no reason to conflict with Europe,” he added.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Thursday that two incidents this week at the borders of Ukraine with Poland and Moldova were a forecast of possible more intense Russian provocations at Ukraine's border posts with Europe.
Two people died when Russian drones hit the border post in Starokozache between Ukraine and Moldova on Tuesday night, while a “direct threat” to a border post between Poland and Ukraine on Wednesday night was only avoided thanks to cooperation between Warsaw and Kiev, he said.
