“ A new attack by the Ukrainian Army has taken place against our region. Military and mobile groups worked all night to take down enemy (Ukrainian) drones. In all, more than 40 drones were killed [...]. Damage was caused to an industrial company and several residential buildings,” wrote the local governor, Viacheslav Fedorischev, on social networks.
Although it did not provide details about the facility under attack, the Russian independent channel Astra and the Ukrainian news portals Exilenova and Supernova indicated that it was the Syzran refinery belonging to Russian oil company Rosneft.
Astra recalled that the facility — with a processing capacity of up to 8.5 million tonnes of crudes per year — has already been attacked five times.
On Monday, the President of the United States said through the Truth Social network that Ukraine had agreed not to attack targets linked to Russian energy, adding that Russia would “do the same”.
In the same message, Trump added that the increase in the world price of diesel is mainly due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, and not to the conflict in Iran caused by the United States and Israel.
The Ukrainian President stressed that Ukraine will refrain from attacking Russian oil infrastructure if it obtains assurances that Russia also intends to stop bombing the country’s electrical system, essential energy infrastructure and food logistics.
Zelensky recalled that, in addition to the Ukrainian energy system, Russia attacks port infrastructure, logistics, food warehouses and pharmaceuticals daily.
The Ukrainian Head of State said that “Ukraine is not convinced” that Russia is willing to comply with the agreement announced by Donald Trump, and said that it doubted that Russian President Vladimir Putin was interested in the partial truce.
During the last night, Ukrainian forces attacked the Russian region of Rostov in the south of the country, damaging a logistics centre of the Ozon e-commerce network, local governor Yuri Slusar said.
Ozon stated that due to the aerial threat, the team of a logistics center in the city of Taganrog was removed from the site.
In addition, Exilenova reported that among the targets hit in the region was the Beriev aircraft factory, which specializes in the repair and modernization of Russian warplanes.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed the slaughter of 222 Ukrainian drones over 15 Russian regions, the annexed peninsula of Crimea and the Black Sea.
Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and launched a large-scale military campaign against the entire Ukrainian territory in 2022.
