“ A EU expresses its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia,” said Anouar El Anouni, spokesperson for the EU diplomatic service.

“ Attacking civilians and civil infrastructure is unacceptable,” added the spokesman, before urging the Huthis, supported by Iran, “to cease any military action.”.

The European position follows a new series of attacks by Yemeni rebels on Saudi territory.

One Yemeni citizen died and two other people were injured in Saudi Arabia after the interception of a drone launched by the Huthis, in which he was the first mortal victim registered in the kingdom this month in the framework of the current escalation.

Huthis attacks have been accompanied by an intensification of Saudi Arabia-led coalition air operations against rebel positions in Yemen.

Climbing also occurs after the recent advances of the Huthis on the Yemeni western coast and towards the narrow strategic of Bab al-Mandab, one of the main maritime routes of international trade.
