Aunlike the measures normally taken in which they opt for silence, this time King Charles III decided to publicly manifest himself to the criticism of Princess Diana's brother, through a spokesman.
The claims that were made in Charles Spencer's book, which will soon be published, concern the conduct of Prince Charles in the days after the death of the princess of the people in 1997.
Charles Spencer claims that the now king told him at the time: “ Rest assured, we will soon forget it”. These revelations were shared by the Daily Mail, which had access to the contents of Princess Diana's brother's memoir book.
Such comments will have been made during a discussion as to whether or not the children of Diana and Charles, Prince William and Harry, should walk behind the coffin carrying Princess Diana's body during the funeral. Charles Spencer would have opposed that decision, but it did.
“ Although we do not comment books on principle, His Majesty is aware that the pain of brotherly mourning can cloud reason, affect judgment and color the memory in ways that others do not recognize, even many years after such loss”A spokesperson at Buckingham Palace reacted.
In turn, before the book was released, Charles Spencer said: “ The purpose of this book is to tell the truth about Diana from your brother's perspective... I want to speak on behalf of Diana and do so openly positively.”
Princess Diana became the most photographed woman in the world after marrying Prince Charles at a ceremony in 1981. However, the royal marriage ended in divorce in 1996. A year later, in 1997, Princess Diana was in a car accident in Paris when her car was being chased by a paparazzi.
