O Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today assured that he has “information” on a Russian attack in preparation against the country, targeting civil and energy infrastructure as well as bridges.

“ We have information that indicates that a new attack is being prepared against the energy sector, against our bridges over the Dnieper River and against civil infrastructure,” Zelensky said in his daily speech, calling on Kyiv’s partners to provide interceptor missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft defense systems.

Recent Russian attacks have caused significant damage to the energy sector and infrastructure, especially in the capital. Ukraine fears a difficult new winter in the face of intense Russian bombings.

Zelensky also claimed to be in contact with those responsible for long-range military operations, and that “Russia will receive the Ukrainian response”.

The announcement comes at a time when a trilateral meeting is scheduled for November 10 and 11 in Abu Dhabi, between emissaries from Kyiv, Washington and Moscow, to try to resume the negotiation process, stopped since the start of the Middle East war in February.

The last such meeting between the Russian, Ukrainian and American delegations took place in mid-February in Geneva, without resulting in any advance in resolving the conflict — triggered by the Russian invasion on a large scale in February 2022.

Moscow specifically demands that the Ukrainian army withdraw fully from the eastern region of Donetsk. Kyiv refuses this demand, arguing that it would leave the country vulnerable to new Russian attacks.
