Sand sunscreen it remains intact for several hours on the skin, resists perspiration and sea baths, imagine the effect this product may have on your clothing parts.
Before summer is over, don't even think about putting the clothes back in those stains! A cleaning expert reveals to the blog Martha Stewart that the more it postpones the problem, the more difficult it will be to remove these stains.
“ Solar protectors are made from oil, and anything that has oil can cause a stain when it dries. This is the root of the problem,” explains Dominique Dalton.
“ When oils absorb the fibers, they can oxidize the parts over time, creating a yellowish or orange discoloration that is even more difficult to treat ", adds.
Here are the steps you have to follow to get rid of the sunblock stains for good
According to the expert, the aim is to resort to these procedures, but not to dispense with a washing machine immediately thereafter. Watch the steps you must follow:
1 . Clean excess sunscreen: Use clean paper or a microfiber cloth to absorb as much of the lotion as possible, but without rubbing. If the sunscreen is already dry, gently scrape any excess product using an old toothbrush, for example, or any other brush.
2 . Apply the detergent: As the sunscreen is oil-based, some drops of liquid detergent may help remove fatty waste. Mix with water and then work on the stain using a clean cloth. Let the solution rest for 2 to 5 minutes.
3 . Rinse and wash: Rinse the area with cold water and wash the piece according to the care label.
4 . Let it air dry: Avoid excessive heat and do not dry on the machine until you are sure that the stain has completely disappeared. Heat can permanently fix persistent spots.
