AND if the health of the heart is more protected if you start introducing a specific drink into your routine? O green tea it's the infusion you're gonna want to keep around.
Although it should not be viewed as a substitute for treatments or a healthy diet, some doctors point to Very Well Health, this may even be a ally of cardiovascular health.
Whether hot, cold or warm, “drinking green tea is associated with numerous health benefits of the heart”, they describe.
Here are the benefits of green tea to heart health:
Helps reduce blood pressure
Note that high blood pressure is associated with several heart health problems, including heart attack and stroke.
It can reduce “bad cholesterol” and triglycerides
Green tea can reduce poor low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL). They say that drinking green tea is associated with a lower LDL, and “high LDL levels can contribute to the accumulation of plaques in the arteries, which can lead to a heart attack or stroke.”
Some studies cited by the same source found lower levels of triglycerides with green tea supplementation.
“ Triglycerides are a form of fat in the blood, and high levels can increase the risk of heart disease and strokes.”
Reduction of the risk of death from cardiovascular diseases
Drinking 3 to 5 cups of green tea daily (together with a healthy diet) can help reduce the risk of death from cardiovascular diseases by 41%.
“Green tea contains epigallocatequine-3-galate (EGCG) and other anti-inflammatory compounds, which can relax blood vessels and reduce inflammation that contributes to heart disease,” they describe.
