O Hugging Face's CEO, Clem Delangue, officially pronounced on the cyber attack that the company was targeted by an OpenAI Artificial Intelligence model, with the computer attack being conducted autonomously and without control from the company led by Sam Altman.
In a shared publication on social network X, Delange shared a photograph where he showed that he was on a plane starting his trip to San Francisco in the U.S., and indicated that he wanted to talk to OpenAI's leadership about what happened.
In another publication, Hugging Face's CEO admitted that he talked to OpenAI about the situation, revealing that he demanded a “radical transparency” about what happened. “ Let’s share the tracks of the agents who got out of control so that the entire research community can study what happened.”, wrote the executive.
Delangue also argued that more resources should be allocated so that companies can defend themselves. “ We will commit to 100 million dollars in computer power from OpenAI to help Hugging Face community develop robust cyber defenses with the best open and closed models.”He noticed Delange.
The leader of Hugging Face even advanced that “the first cyber attack carried out by an autonomous agent is an unprecedented event” and, as such, states that “you deserve an unprecedented answer”.
