A Base of the Lajes, in the Azores, has currently parked 17 refuelling planes KC-46 Pegasus from the U.S. Air Force found Lusa on the scene.

In the morning, none of the 17 planes took off and only one aircraft was possible to see american military, probably in a maintenance intervention.

Days before the attack by the United States and Israel on Iran on 28 February, the base received 15 of these aircraft, which are capable of refueling other aircraft in full flight.

For months, the activity of these aircraft was intense, with several takeoffs and daily landings at the Base das Lajes.

In September, there was a reduction in the presence of these aircraft, having been parked only six.

However, on october 11, he received a reinforcement similar to what had happened in february.

According to images captured by amateur photographers who usually follow the movement of planes in airports, on Wednesday, eight of these refuelers left the Lajes, but only on training missions.

This increase in military presence at the Lajes Base occurs at a time when the United States has strengthened its military presence in the Middle East, with the dispatch of the USS aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, which will join the USS George H. W. Bush and USS George Washington, already present in the region.

The US press points to the possibility of Washington and Israel resuming the bombings against Iran after the mid-term elections in November.

In the last 10 days, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has recorded at least 15 incidents with ships in the Strait of Ormuz, of which it has acknowledged that it has attacked four, stating that 11 others have collided with mines in the context of rising tensions in this strategic maritime passage.

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump accused Iran of trying to incarcerate oil to harm Republicans in the mid-term elections on November 3.

In an interview with the British Financial Times on Friday, U.S. ambassador to the UN, Michael Waltz, admitted that the United States (US) will be able to continue in a year’s time at a standstill in the conflict with Iran, although he said he was hopeful that “before that”, Tehran would sit at the table to negotiate.

At the beginning of this month, the Portuguese Public Prosecutor’s Office opened an inquiry into the legality of the use of the Lajes Base by the United States in the conflict with Iran following a complaint from the Left Block, which it considers to be a “gross violation of international law”.

On the 9th, however, the Prime Minister expressed the “absolutely unwavering” conviction that the use of the Lajes Base by the United States complied with all legal rules.
