Cthis regulation, the community executive, expects these measures to save companies and market surveillance authorities up to eur 125 million annually over the next ten years.
Simplification of labels should also contribute to savings of EUR 18.4 billion in administrative costs.
As far as consumers are concerned, Brussels wants to ensure that more consumers have the necessary information when deciding on a purchase.
Some labels, including smartphones, will also provide information on durability and repairability.
This energy product simplification initiative is the 12th in a series to reduce bureaucracy and strengthen competitiveness, with the aim of achieving an unprecedented simplification effort, achieving a reduction of at least 25% in administrative burdens — and at least 35% for small and medium-sized enterprises — by 2030.
In the specific case of energy labelling and tyres, the market surveillance authorities will benefit from cost savings.
