ANDm communiqué, the University of Porto reports the exhibition that goes through about 70 years of work of Siza Vieira, Pritzker Prize in 1992, in show cured by Teresa Cunha Ferreira, Luís Martinho Urbano, João Pedro Xavier and José Miguel Rodrigues.

“ The exhibition brings together a selection of photographs, maps, plans, drawings and films that document some of the most significant projects of the Portuguese architect and former professor of FAUP”, can be read in the note.

“Time Designs Architecture” will be shown at the UNESCO headquarters Hall Ségur in the French capital, and presents projects that “reveal constant attention to the place, landscape and communities” by the architect, now 92 years old.

“ The title of the exhibition calls for the relationship between time and architecture, referring both to the exceptional longevity of Álvaro Siza's career, as well as to the way in which time is inscribed in his projects, in the construction of places and in the permanence of architecture as a cultural expression ", explains the FAUP.

In May, the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), in Montreal, inaugurated an exhibition dedicated to the urban projects of the architect born in Matosinhos, in 1933, entitled “The luck of the city is to have never been perfect”.

In 2024, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation presented in Lisbon the exhibition “Siza”, one of the largest retrospectives dedicated to the architect in recent decades, centered both on his architectural work and on the most intimate and artistic universe.

The following year, the Serralves Foundation opened in Shanghai the exhibition “Alvaro Siza: The Archive”, considered the largest show ever performed on its work, gathering drawings, models, sculptures and archive documentation.

Álvaro Siza Vieira is considered the most internationally recognized Portuguese architect and received the Pritzker Prize in 1992, the most important worldwide award of architecture.

Over more than seven decades of his career, he signed emblematic works such as the Malagueira neighborhood in Évora, the Portugal Pavilion of Expo’98, in Lisbon, the renovation of Chiado and the Church of Santa Maria, in Marco de Canaveses.

In addition to architecture, Siza developed an intense artistic production linked to drawing, sculpture and writing, being known for the constant practice of drawing as a tool of thought and creation.
