“ O Government announced the intention to create a sovereign fund to ensure the representation of the State in companies and strategic sectors for the country, when the PSD-CDS government itself was one of the main responsible for abdicating and delivering to private sectors that strategic of the country in the past ", criticized Tiago Oliveira, in statements to journalists, in Lisbon.

The trade unionist spoke in the margins of a plenary organised by workers from the Arsenal of the Alfeite, which took place in front of the premises of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers at Campus XXI in Lisbon.

The issue is the announcement this weekend by the Prime Minister and leader of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, of creating a sovereign fund of Portugal so that the State can intervene “in strategic sectors”, such as energy, banking, communications or the management of airport infrastructure.

“ We have given the private sectors very important to the country. And now we will inject again into the private millions of euros, which are workers’ money, to acquire a small part, which will not turn into anything what is the government’s decision and the government’s weight in these companies, but will allow it to contribute more millions of euros to the private sector,” he criticized.

Tiago Oliveira considered that the country is following “a course of deception and lies” and, before the workers of the Arsenal of the Alpheite present in plenary, about 160, he considered that this fund intends to “gorge with those who work”.

Asked about the fact that the Minister of Labour said that she believes that the government can insist on labour reform — failed last week in parliament — Tiago Oliveira stressed that “this work package died” due to “the enormous participation of workers”.

“ Now, we know the government we have, what your ambition is and what you want. But here is a word to the government: CGTP and the workers have shown what they want for themselves, for their future and for the country. And it does not go through the setback or the degradation of living and working conditions. It goes through evolution, through improving working conditions ", he said.

Tiago Oliveira stressed that the executive can count on “the struggle of the workers” if he wants to persist in a “arm-to-arm” policy.
