A CP – Trains of Portugal warned for possible disturbances due to a strike called by the SFRCI union for October 30. The impact may also be felt the day before and the following.

“ For the sake of a strike called by the SFRCI union for the day 30 october, disturbances in the circulation of trains are anticipated, with possible impacts also on the day before and after“, announced the carrier in notified.

The company points out that “to customers who already have tickets to travel on Alfa Pendular, Intercity, International, Interregional and Regional trains, the CP will allow the reimbursement, in the total amount of the ticket purchased, or its free exchange to another train of the same category and in the same class“.

There is strike at the Lisbon Metro at the same time

It should also be remembered that workers of the Lisbon Metropolitan (ML) will meet two partial strikes on 28 and 30 October, second trade union source and carrier, which will apply for minimum services to the Arbitral Court.

“ With regard to these new notices, the Lisbon Metro will also [as it did on Wednesday’s strike] request the Arbitral Court to set minimum services, seeking to minimize the constraints for passengers and ensure, as far as possible, the continuity of a public service essential to the city’s mobility”, says the company in a statement.

The union organizations representing the workers presented new partial strike notices for the days 28 and 30 October, between 05:00 and 10:00.

According to Sara Gligó, leader of the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans) and the STRUP – Union of Road and Urban Transport Workers of Portugal, in question are the same claims that were the origin of the strike on Wednesday, October 14, which led to the suspension of circulation for 24 hours.

According to the leader, there are persistent problems at the Central Command Post (CPC) and the Traction Stations.

The strike comes before the non-compliances and the lack of concrete responses from the company’s administration since the signing of the agreement of 13 April 2026′′, I said.

Among the problems identified by the trade unions are the lack of workers in the CPC and the Traction, the excessive use of additional work, the existence of prolonged shifts, delays in the training of officials and inspectors and what they consider to be an emptying of the functions of the heads.

“ Over the last few months, trade union structures have remained available to negotiate, sent letters, requested specific meetings on the heads of the PDO and examined documents submitted by the company. However, they consider that the answers were insufficient”, according to FECTRANS.

Today, in a statement, the company regretted the constraints for passengers and reaffirmed the willingness to continue the dialogue with the trade unions.

However, the Board of Directors considered it “unproportional that there should be stoppages, taking into account the significant impact they have on passengers’ lives and the fact that opportunities for dialogue are still open and that concrete measures are already in place to respond to the demands made”.
