A UMM became an icon in the Portuguese automobile market between the 1970s and 1980s – thanks to its Alter. He stopped producing cars in 2006, but he may now be back in sight.
Last weekend (5 and 6 September), a camouflaged prototype of a 100 percent electric UMM was revealed during the Motorfestival Caramulo. No details were released.
It is a prototype that serves to “test new things, different things, an electric motor“, according to UMM’s administrator, Filipe Baptista da Silva, told YouTube of the event official.
ISEL is a project partner, through the Low Carbon Energy research group led by Paulo Almeida.
Despite being camouflaged, the prototype doesn't have a front grating just as soon as it's electric. Send to the UMM Original Alter through its angular lines and simplicity. The hood features a downward line, while the front headlights are round and minimalistic in the dimensions. And you propose open box behind.
According to iSEL website, the prototype recently shown proposes electric motorization, integrated traction and more than 200 hp power, with energy stored in a 55 kWh battery.
It remains to be seen whether this electric UMM will ever go into production and how, since there are no official details about the specifications. The specialized website Reason Automobile speaks in full traction, about 200 hp of power and a 55 kWh battery. O Minute Auto/Minute News has already sent a request for information to UMM, but we have not yet received an answer.
In the same interview, Filipe Baptista da Silva spoke about what might come: “The future in UMM is always a blank page, it is always open. And we tested several things, we continue to cherish the brand”.
