The Telegraph and Allure magazine spoke to some dentists and experts in the field to see what they have to say about this new toothbrush, Dyson CameraJet.
Camera toothbrush?
“The feedback from the live camera is the most impressive feature. Allowing people to see exactly what they are missing is a brilliant play of behavioral design, like having the opinion of a dentist in the palm of your hand every morning”, starts by telling dentist Tilly Houston.

Dentist Michael Wei is of the opinion that the camera may be a useful tool, but leaves a warning. “The camera is the biggest positive point of the new brush and allows you to understand the areas that may be left behind. My only concern is that people don't focus too much on self-diagnosing based on what they see in the chamber.”
“Seeing something unusual doesn’t necessarily mean that there is a dental problem, and a camera in a toothbrush certainly doesn’t replace a professional exam,” dentist Brian Kantor continues to Allure magazine.
Waterjet and embedded elixir: Benefits?
Having an embedded waterjet can help many people who end up using dental floss regularly. “For people who currently don't use anything between their teeth can be transformative. I don’t think it will replace the interdental brushes for everyone, especially for those who have gum problems, but as a way to encourage millions of people to acquire a habit they never had, it’s exciting”, continues the dentist Tilly Houston.
Still, dentist Vanna Stone revealed to the magazine that the use of dental floss may remain a reality, even for those who use this brush. “If your teeth are tight or stacked, you need to use traditional dental floss.”
Tilly Houston left another concern she found. “I have some questions about the effect of oral elixir while brushing my teeth. It is usually something dentists do not advise”, he explains. On the other hand, it also questioned the use of toothpaste without SLS, or LSS, sodium lauryl sulfate. It is an agent present in various toothpaste and other cosmetic products to create foam.
According to Dyson, the goal is not to have foam while brushing your teeth and to be able to see everything you're cleaning more clearly from the camera. In theory, it does not take it as a big problem, but “many people don't use toothpastes without SLS nowadays, and changing from one you've been using for years can be an obstacle“. The brand even sells its own folder without this component, but there are also other specialized companies that do so.
