O BYD Ti 7 is one of the new bets of the Chinese manufacturer for Europe. The model, which recalls the well-known Land Rover Defender, is already in pre-book in the United Kingdom and in the future, will also reach other european regions.

This is the second SUV of seven BYD seats arriving in Europe, proposing a hybrid engine plugin (DM-p Super Hybrid). There are three engines (one at the front, the other at the back and a 1.5 litre petrol turbocharged engine with 150 hp), and in the UK it will only have full traction.

The system debits 408 cv of power and allows to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, with a maximum speed of 190 km/h – this in a large vehicle, which is certainly far from light. For most of the time, the combustion engine functions as a generator to power the 35.6 kWh battery – which provides up to 119 km/h of purely electric autonomy.

Defend? No, it's a BYD

Viewing BYD profile Ti 7, it's impossible not to remember the popular Land Rover Defender. But it's done in BYD's image. The design privileges a rectangular shape and is muscular, with 20-inch rims in light alloy flanked by robust extensions of the wheel arches. The lighting is LED and there are roof bars.

In terms of decoration, the vehicle can have six different exterior colors in the British market: the silver Starlight Silver at no additional cost, as well as the grey Titanium Grey (which is also available in matt version), the green Jade Green and Mountain Green and the black Obsidian Black.

Inside, bYD Ti 7 can take up to seven people spread over three rows of banks, with climate control of three zones, refrigerator and drink heater to be some of the comfort resources. It is also possible to have the light entering generously in the passenger compartment, thanks to the panoramic glass roof, in addition to darkened windows for those who sit in the back rows.

The front row seats and the sides of the second row are heated and ventilated in a vehicle with standard leather upholstery available in brown, light grey and black. There's a sound system with 18 speakers.

The driver sees the essential information in a 10.25 inch instrument panel. At the center, there is a 15.6 inch touch screen for infoentertainment.

The trunk takes 126 liters with seven seats, but batting the last row this capacity increases to 970 liters. And if both rows of backseats are hit, you'll reach 1,830 liters.

Price and availability

The new BYD Ti 7 is available for pre-booking in the UK for £47,995 (the equivalent of about eur 56,154, at the current exchange rate). All model specifications are not yet known, whose deliveries are expected to start in January.

According to Automotive News, it is expected that over the coming year this large SUV will extend to other European countries. The only seven-seater SUV that the brand currently sells in Portugal is the 100 percent electric Tang, with up to 530 km of combined cycle autonomy WLTP and integral traction.

New BYD is hybrid plug-in pick-up with 90 km of electric autonomy

BYD Shark is the new model of the Chinese brand – a hybrid plug-in pick-up with 5.5 meters long and double cabin, which proposes about 90 km of autonomy in 100 percent electric mode.
