ANDlast July, Colombia witnessed a new Guinness world record, set by a Nissan Qashqai full hybrid with the manufacturer's latest e-Power hybrid technology.

Between July 14 and 17, the automobile traveled from Bogotá to the Caribbean coast of that South American country, completing 1,980 km with only one fuel tank – that is, without refueling on the route. The initiative was accompanied by the official judges, who certified the milestone.

It's a new absolute record of continuous distance with a deposit for a hybrid SUV without external loading of extended autonomy.

The e-Power system of this vehicle provides a 5-in-1 powertrain with electric motor, generator, inverter, reducer and multiplier. The energy optimization is constant and there is also regenerative braking. The battery has 2.1 kWh capacity, no external loading.

The combustion engine, which serves as an energy generator, debits 156 hp of power, while the electric motor appears with 190 hp and this is the one that moves the wheels. That is, technically, Qashqai received new electricity constantly. The set has a total of 205 cv. Consumptions from 4.3 to 4.5 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres are announced.

The combustion engine is a three cylinder 1.5 liters turbocharged, feeding on gasoline. The 55 liters carrying the deposit arrived to complete almost 2,000 kilometers away in this successful Guinness record attempt.

The goal, Nissan said in a statement, was to demonstrate the efficiency, autonomy and driving experience of e-Power technology similar to conventional motorization.
