Qwhen we think about decoration, very probably, we think about aesthetics, something more visual, but also functionality. Especially if we talk about a house, it is important, therefore, that the decorative choices we make have a practical intention, that they serve the needs of everyday life. But the decoration still meets other purposes, and may, for example, actively contribute to inviting harmony and prosperity inside doors, following the principles of Feng Shui. But we'll go deeper.
At the same time, decorative changes often go hand in hand with season changes. After all, different stations ask for different choices at this level, particularly from the point of view of comfort. The summer, which we have been receiving for days, requires some care so that the houses do not turn into a ‘ oven’. And if air conditioning can play an effective role, decoration also has a say here.
We can make the houses cooler by means of the decorative elements we choose. And in this particular Feng Shui can (must!) be a very useful tool. Write down the following home tips on how to make your home more harmonious and, at the same time, cooler.
What is Feng Shui anyway?
Surely the name will sound familiar to you, but do you really know what Feng Shui is and what he advocates? Feng (means wind) Shui (means water) is a Chinese ancient art of space harmonisation, which uses conscious design to promote well-being, health and inner peace. The secret lies in balancing vital energy (Chi) in the environments, through Feng, which moves the energies, and the Shui, which in turn retains and accumulates them.
There are a few guiding principles that are the basis of Feng Shui. One of them is to open the windows, airing the house often. This is because, in the light of Feng Shui, the windows are the ‘eyes’ of the house and the main channels through which vital energy enters. Thus, the ritual of opening the windows is assumed to be essential to clean energies that accumulate and to summon new ones, centered on mental clarity and well-being.

Cultivating detachment and planting nature
Well, in summer opening the windows can be a habit with some associated problems. Cleans energies, but also lets in... heat. Which is what you want to avoid when the goal is to keep the house fresh. To overcome this collateral damage, something that might help balance the accounts is related to the type of curtains which has in the windows, since they are essential to regulate the temperature of the environment and control the amount of light that enters each division.
Choose light and natural materials, such as flax or cotton, and soft colours, not only in respect of curtains, but in general textiles. According to Feng Shui, the lighter tones are connected to serenity and will still be a strategic ally to help make the house cooler. The same applies to other sustainable materials such as bamboo – symbol of longevity and prosperity – rattan or raffia.

Another valuable advice will be to exchange incandescent lamps for lED lamps: in addition to the energy saving they promote, they do not emit heat.
By the way, in a logic similar to the opening of the windows, Feng Shui cultivates detachment, so this will be a good opportunity to unwind, getting rid of everything that is more or less good at home – by the way, broken or damaged objects are really forbidden because they hold Chi in a negative way!
In reverse, betting on plants, integrating nature into various divisions, promotes positive energy retention and helps greatly to refresh the house.
Take a command position, but without blocking the power
There are a few decorative objects with special significance from Feng Shui's point of view and that can also support the mission of keeping the house fresh. We refer to water sources (stabilize finances); glass or ceramic pots (current energy imbalances); stones and crystals (absorb stagnant energy); or mirrors (amplify space energy).

As a curiosity, know that bells help expel negative energies; triangular objects capture success; joyful illustrations call happiness; decorative buddhas they attract luck; and white candles are synonymous with purity and function as a protective amulet (in summer it may not be a good idea to light them, but the truth is that aromatic candles are a must have all year long, even if it does not light them).
Recovering the mirrors mentioned above: they are a powerful element of Feng Shui, associated with water, taking into account that they allow multiplying and spreading the energy of a division. It is therefore appropriate that you take some care when positioning them to reflect positive elements.

Another concern you should never put a mirror in front of the bed, as it may disturb the rest. Make sure the bed is not aligned with the bedroom door, although it is important that you be able to observe it. It is essential that those who lie down take a command position, but that the flow of energies does not suffer blockages. The same reasoning is transverse to the sofas.
Finally, closing with beds and sofas, we return to the textiles and the importance they have in ensuring the comfort of those who seek that the environments of the house remain fresh. On this path, choose sheets and blankets the materials of which serve this purpose, such as cotton or linen.
