Children of Perez Hilton “ran away” from home moments before the incident

Operez Hilton's family, including his three small children, left the influencer's home moments before he self-mutilated himself live at TikTok.

In a statement published on his website, the family gave new details about the live broadcast by Perez on August 4, from his home in Miami, during which he appeared full of blood.

“ A few minutes before the directing incident, Perez's children, niece and sister were inside the house. When it became clear that he was going through a serious mental health crisis and self-mutilating, they fled immediately to protect children from seeing any trauma,”, you can read it. 

“Our top priority now is to help children begin to recover from what they have lived. An important part of this process is to allow them to return home safely and start rebuilding a sense of safety and normality,” the family said.

Perez Hilton is the father of three children: Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, eight, born through a surrogate. The family recently moved to Miami to get closer to his mother, the Laundry Teresita.

Still in the statement, the family of the content creator also asked the press professionals and paparazzi “leave the vicinity of the family house”. “Please grant his children the privacy and space they need during this moment of unimaginable difficulty,” you can read. 

What happened to Perez Hilton the night of August 4th?

Perez Hilton was hospitalized on August 4 after Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office police were sent to his home after he broadcast live on TikTok social media a video where he appears self-mutilating. 

After the end of the video, very strong images began to circulate through social networks that show him covered in blood.  

The agents were sent to the scene after receiving several calls from viewers concerned about what they had just seen live, a police spokesman referred to People magazine. When they got to the scene, they realized Perez Hilton was alone.

Family of Perez Hilton is “hopeful” 

Perez Hilton's family issued a statement that the influencer is able to communicate and they remain hopeful in their recovery. 

“ Our family wants to thank once again all those who have sent prayers, gentle messages and support to Perez. The humanity and compassion shown by you at this deeply painful moment have meant more than words can express”, says the document. 

Still in the statement it is explicit that this incident was “incredibly difficult and emotionally stressful” for the family, but that these “stay hopeful” in relation to their health.
