“ Dwe question the need to raise awareness of the mozambican private sector about how to register and participate in this process of exporting national products to China, where we highlight soybean, sesame and other basic products produced in our agricultural sector. They are export products from our country to the Chinese market,” said Minister of Economics Basil Muhate at the end of a meeting with the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), which brings together the national private sector.
According to the ruler, the joint work between the executive and the private sector aims to ensure that entrepreneurs know the procedures necessary to access the Chinese market, at a time when Mozambique seeks to increase the volume and diversify exports to that destination.
CTA President Álvaro Massingu considered that opening up the Chinese market was an opportunity to reduce Mozambique's trade deficit with that country, advocating greater preparation of national companies.
“Mozambique exports less than it imports from China, but with this openness what we have to do is prepare to increase our exports, taking advantage of this opening up of the Chinese market,” he said.
According to Álvaro Massingu, the Government and the Chinese Embassy are working on defining the standards and requirements that entrepreneurs should meet to export to that market, including updating the list of eligible products.
The initiative is part of the government's strategy to strengthen national exports, especially agricultural products such as soya, sesame and other crops, seeking to expand the presence of Mozambican goods in the Chinese market by meeting the technical and sanitary requirements imposed by that country.
