A demonstration in Lisbon by the right to housing arrived at around 6.30 p.m. to Rossio square, where protesters intend to stay overnight and after an hour of parade monitored by the National Macanism of Prevention of the Ombudsman's Office.
“ So far everything has gone well,” Miguel Feldman, coordinator of the National Mechanism for the Prevention of the Ombudsman’s Office, told journalists to coordinate the work of monitoring the demonstration with another element of the body.
The usual monitoring actions of this entity are the justification for the presence of the Ombudsman's team, said Miguel Feldman, who questioned whether they were present as a result of the public appeal of several figures, including constitutionalist Teresa Violante, lawyer Ricardo Sá Fernandes and professor and economist Susana Peralta, replied: “Not necessarily”.
“ It has to do with the assessment that the Ombudsman makes of the situation and then we try to be present. ", said, advancing that this is the first manifestation by the right to housing and the camp that the Mechanism accompanies.
The square of Rossio, where the protesters gathered is full of people, who at around 19:00 applauded the placement of a reproduction of a donkey head in the statue of D. Pedro IV and soon after sang in unison the “Grandola, Vila Morena”, Zeca Afonso.
