O wintertime is almost here! It is already next weekend – especially in the early hours of Sunday, October 25 – that clocks will delay an hour (but there are ‘differences’ depending on the region in which it is located).
So if you're in Continental Portugal or Autonomous Region of Madeira, the change of time occurs when it is 2:00 a.m. At this time, you should delay the clock 60 minutes, i.e. 1 a.m.
Already in Autonomous Region of the Azores, due to the time difference (less than one hour than on the continent) the change takes place at 1 a.m., when the clocks will ‘walk back’ and pass back to midnight.
This change causes us to ‘win’ another hour of sleep tonight.
The legal time will change again on March 28, 2027 – for the summer regime.
The current regime for changing the time is regulated by a directive (Community law) of 2000, which provides that each year the clocks are, respectively, advanced and delayed one hour on the last Sunday of March and last Sunday of October, marking the beginning and end of summer time.
How to start preparing the body?
The change of time zone affects the circadian rhythm, internal biological clock that regulates when we feel awake or tired. Thus, even the difference of one hour can cause temporary sleep disorders, similar to a (light) jet lag. You may have more difficulty falling asleep or waking up at your usual time.
A timely preparation can make the transition much quieter. Read in the article below some tips that can help you:
