O tennis player Henrique Rocha rose today to 100th place of the world ranking, placing Portugal for the first time in history with three top 100 representatives, since the creation of the ATP table in 1973.
Henrique Rocha, who was 105th in the transatlantic week, joins Nuno Borges (53rd) and Jaime Faria (57th), who both fell a position in the hierarchy.
Regarding the top 100, the 22-year-old Portuguese player becomes the ninth Portuguese player to reach this level, joining Nuno Marques, Frederico Gil, Rui Machado, João Sousa, Gastão Elias and Pedro Sousa.
The now 100th of the world ranking becomes the third youngest Portuguese to achieve this milestone, beaten only by Nuno Marques (21 years) – the first to achieve it, on April 1, 1991 – and Jaime Faria (also with 22).
Last week, Henrique Rocha won two games at the Lisbon Belém Open challenger, before falling in the quarterfinals before the Danish Elmer Moller (6-2 and 6-4).
The ATP table continues to be led by Italian Jannik Sinner, now closely followed by German Alexander Zverev, second, and Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, third.
In the top 10, the only change was the rise of the French Arthur Fils from the 10th to the eighth rank and the fall of the Australian Alex of Minaur from the eighth to the 10th.
As for the female hierarchy, he leads Kazakh Elena Rybakina, followed by Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, second, and Russian Mirra Andreeva, third, in a top 10 in which Polish Iga Swiatek rose a position, to octave, for exchange with Czech Linda Noskova.
