The Municipality of Vendas Novas wants to go back to making history and cooking the biggest bifana in the world. If in 2024 the typical snack reached 15 meters, this year, in September, they expect to prepare a 20-metre bifana.

Acouncil Parties in the Municipality of Vendas Novas are not just a simple event of comees, babies and music. Here you want to be at the level of the greatest in the world. The bifana is one of the best known snacks in the area. In 2024 several people gathered to cook the world's largest bifana. You've reached 50 feet. This year the goal is to prepare one that reaches 20 meters.
“Ready for the biggest bifana in the world?”, questions the Municipality of Vendas Novas in publication on your Instagram page. They reveal that the event is back at the Council Parties after it happened in 2026.
New Sales will have the biggest bifana in the world
This will certainly be one of the highlights of this year's edition of the festivities that take place between September 4 and 7. If you didn't have a place to be on these dates, you know where to book a trip.
“The Municipality of Vendas Novas organizes another edition of the Festivals of the Council, in which Bifana once again takes a prominent place. After the 15 meters reached in 2024, the challenge this time rises. We want to have the world's biggest 20-meter bifana” explain in the publication.
They can still tell us something else. It's just that the challenge will be done with the special cheese bifana. “The traditional recipe that made this delicacy known and so appreciated remains, of course, as the great reference of this specialty, but it is the Special with Cheese this year’s big star”, they explain. It's Saturday, September 5th, from 7:15 p.m., that you can attend all the preparation. This event has the support of the New Sales and Castelões Cheese Central Panifier.
They also announce solidarity action, the initiative “1,000 Solidary Biphanes”. “It will provide a thousand bifanas with a minimum donation of 1 euro, with the total amount raised to revert to the Portuguese League Against Cancer”.
More initiatives at the Festivals of the Council
This edition of the Festivals of the Council also has live presentations by chefs Hélio Loureiro, David Jesus and Fábio Bernardino, and even with recipes for the younger ones through the Funny Cook project by Mafalda Teixeira.
It will also be possible to harmonize bifanas with wines, it is also prepared for the election of the King of the Queen of Bifana and the opening of the contest “Bifanas à Marcelada”. All this is going to happen at the Fair and Market Park. They will soon also publish the full poster.
