2.0 litre Mazda MX-5 comes out of its last stronghold in Europe

In 2024, the MX-5 Mazda with a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G engine left the scene in the European Union, but remained available in the UK. Now it also comes to an end in that country and the reason is the same: regulations.

End of line for Mazda MX-5 with 2.0 litre Skyactiv-G engine in Europe. After being discontinued in the European Union in 2024, the manufacturer announced that it will also withdraw from the UK.

The regulations on pollutant emissions they forced the decision taken two years ago and were also at the origin of the end of the model with this motorization on the British market. But since the exemption deadlines were different, this only happened now, from the year of model 2027.

Mazda has stock to meet UK requests by January. This month, the updated MX-5 will reach the market, with a 1.5 litre Skyactiv-G drive – already present in the Portuguese market and around which the current generation was developed.

So, the roadster is less potent (136 hp against the 184 hp of 2.0 liters), but it has benefits from the point of view of carbon dioxide emissions (more contained, 139 grams per kilometre covered). And it's associated with acoustic enhancements. It consumes 6.1 litres of fuel every 100 kilometres (WLTP).

In Portugal, mazda MX-5 2027 is available from 37,122 euros with flexible roof. Its 1.5 litre thruster is associated with a six-speed manual box in a rear-wheel drive car.

Mazda Roadster renovated for 2027 and more powerful. Prices

Mazda's roadster is renewed and more powerful. The MX-5 is already priced for Portugal, and the changes made to the success model for the year 2027 are relatively subtle.
