Um minor was shot by the Serbian authorities after stabbing a guard at the entrance of the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade. The incident, already described as “terrorist attack”, occurred around 00:00 on Wednesday.

In statements to journalists, Interior Minister Ivica Dacic explained that the police were treating the case as a “terrorist attack” and that the level of terrorist threat in the country had been raised to maximum.

According to the minister, “a terrorist attack was carried out in Belgrade against a member of the Gendarmerie who was security at the Embassy of Israel”.

The minor, who will be about 16 years old, was already being monitored by the security services of Serbia, since, according to Dacic, he was a supporter of the Islamic State.

“ He had in his Instagram account the black flag in support of the Islamic State ", revealed the minister.

The attack this morning took place on the day that Israel held legislative elections and a few days after Serbia held the same election, in which Aleksandar Vucic, in power since 2017 as president and candidate for Prime Minister in these elections, was defeated by a youth-led movement.

The case resembles an incident in June 2024, when the Serbian Police killed a man armed with a beast in front of the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade.

“ Although the agent was injured, he managed to eliminate the aggressor and thus prevent him from making more victims,” said the police spokesman, Veljko Mijailovic, at the time.
