Not everyone “fears” Chinese competition. “We do not see it as a threat”

Nem todos

Lamborghini is not afraid of Chinese car brands, not seeing them as threat or direct competition, not even with the arrival of supercars. The reason for the little concern lies in the engines.

A chinese competition is being a puzzle for several car manufacturers more classic, be it from Europe and the West or countries like Japan.

But lamborghini does not fear these rivals, who have also been betting on high-performance cars – such as Denza Z, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra or Yangwang U9 with more than 1,000 cv and design markedly sporty and aggressive.

In fact, the taurine mark doesn't even see them as opponents. Stephan Winkelmann, executive director of Lamborghini, made the position clear in statements to the publication Auto Expres: “We don't see this as a threat, because they're making electric cars. And if we say we’re not making electric cars for a reason, then there’s also an idea behind how we look at our Chinese opponents or the Chinese builders.”.

Having said this, and aware that the world changes and nothing is static, this position is not eternal: “I always say you never say never“, commented the leader of the renowned Italian brand, now belonging to the Volkswagen Group.

Lamborghini keeps thinking about 100 percent electric cars. Presented the concept Lanzador, but postponed for a few years the bet on these engines while working – for now – on the plug-in hybrids.
