Composed by 14 themes, the new studio album of The Rolling Stones includes 12 original themes, a version of Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good”, and another of Chuck Berry’s “Beautiful Delilah”, a theme that closes the album and is “a tribute to one of the Stones’ most enduring influences”, says Universal Music Portugal, in a statement.

The album “won form in less than a month at Metropolis Studios in western London, bringing together Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood with producer Andrew Watt, winner of a Grammy, who also signed the production of ‘Hackney Diamonds’ [the group’s previous album, edited in 2023]”,

Mick Jagger shared having “loved the recording sessions in London, Metropolis.”.

“ They were very intense weeks recording ‘Foreign Tongs’. We had 14 excellent themes and worked as quickly as possible. I really like that studio because it's not too big and we can feel everyone's passion ", said, quoted by the publisher.

Keith Richards stated that the new album “has a natural continuity in relation to ‘Hackney Diamonds’”.

“ It was great to go back to work in London and feel all the energy of the city around us again. It was a month of intense, focused work. For me, it all comes down to the pleasure of making music. I feel privileged to be able to continue to do so and I hope it will be so for many years,” he said, also quoted in the statement.

Ronnie Wood spoke of an “extremely creative studio environment,” adding that “all the band was in great shape throughout the process.”.

“ We often get the right recording right on the first try. I hope everyone likes the album ", said.

“Foreign Tonges” has the collaboration of Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan, “longtime band partners”, as well as “a special Charlie Watts participation in the intense ‘Hit Me In The Head’, recorded in one of his last recording sessions before his death in 2021”.

The guest list also includes Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, Robert Smith, lead singer of The Cure, and Chad Smith, drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The cover of the album is a portrait, a painting by American artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn, composed of the faces of the three Rolling Stones musicians: Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards.

The art direction and design of the new album is the responsibility of the Portuguese designer Bráulio Amado, in partnership with the English artist Mat Maitland.

Bráulio Amado, born Almada in 1987, has lived in New York since 2011.

The visual artist’s work includes posters, album covers, illustrations for newspapers and magazines, such as the New York Times or Wired, videos and “other things”, such as t-shirts, wine labels, websites, socks or towels, according to information available on the designer’s official website and illustrator.

Braulio Amado was nominated for the American Grammy Music Awards for the graphic work of Mac Miller’s album “Balloonerism”, developed with American interdisciplinary artist Alim Smith.

Bráulio Amado has created album covers and singles for artists like Frank Ocean, André 3000, Róisín Murphy, Xinobi, Rex Orange County, D’Alva, Washed Out and Moullinex.

Formed in London in 1962, The Rolling Stones maintain one of the most successful rock careers, with classics such as “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”, “Paint It Black” and “Start Me Up”, as well as 14 albums and eight number one singles in the UK.

After the death of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021, at the age of 80, Steve Jordan joined the group, which has been part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1989.
