ANDforget the fast food meals! Nutritionists reveal to Very Well Health the best healthy meals for when you don't have time to cook.
Take note of the ingredients you will need for these simple and fast dishes:
Spilled roast chicken bowl
If there's chicken leftovers stored in the fridge, just shred it!
“ A chicken protein mixed with fruit fibre and vegetables may help to maintain satiety, and I love that everything is ready in about five minutes”, says nutritionist Lindsey De Soto.
To improve the recipe of this type of salads you can add herbs and water with homemade sauces or red wine vinegar, for example. For an extra flavor and crunch, the expert recommends including:
Sunflower seeds
Walnuts
Feta cheese
Fresh fruit
Cups with various types of grain
“ It's a flexible meal that can easily adjust. It can increase the protein by adding chicken or tofu, and enhance the dish with vitamins and minerals by mixing vegetables, spinach, cabbage, peppers or other vegetables to taste,” Kristen Smith said.
“Tigelas with some grains are one of my favorite meals when I don’t feel like cooking. Normally I warm a package of whole rice or quinoa, then mix black beans with parsley and finish with avocado and grated cheddar cheese”.
According to this nutrition expert, this meal is “a balanced mixture of complex carbohydrates, that helps keep energy levels stable and promotes satiety. The ingredients I add to the bowls of grain offer various benefits,” he explains.
Here are some examples:
Parsley: Provides vitamins and antioxidants with few calories
Black beans: Adds protein and fibers of plant origin that improves heart health and digestion
Avocado: It contributes with healthy fats that help maintain satiety to control cholesterol.
Omelette
Dietian Simone Harounian says this is a great option for a meal, but she can combine it with other foods, such as fruits, “for an even more balanced meal.”.
For the filling of the omelet itself, the expert suggests adding beans, or adding vegetables such as spinach, onion peppers or mushrooms.
“ When I don't feel like cooking, one of my favorite quick meals is an omelet with black beans and parsley. Bato, I cook two eggs and cover them with half a mug of canned black beans well rinsed and some parsley. It is ready in less than 10 minutes and requires very little preparation”.
