“ ‘Instadocs: The Prediction Market Games’ takes viewers to the epicenter of gambling fever, where millions bet they can predict the future and make a lot of money – quickly”, can be read in synopsis Shared by Netflix.

It is important to note that, in addition to other participants, the documentary featured interviews with leaders of those who are the two largest platforms in this market, namely Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan and Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour.

However, it seems that Kalshi was not satisfied with the way the company was represented in the trailer.

How does the The Hollywood Reporter, the subpoena sent to Netflix points to a brief scene in the trailer showing an event in Las Vegas, Nevada, organized about the World Cup final2026, between Spain and Argentina. In the trailer it is possible to see one of the men displaying the receipt of a bet in the victory of the Spanish selection in the amount of $5,000.

Another attendee of this event also admits to using the platform. “I like to bet on Kalshi”, says one of the men present at this event.

Netflix paid over 500 million per AI startup from Ben Affleck

It turns out since march this year that Kalshi is not licensed to operate in the state of Nevada, with the company considering that the trailer of this Netflix documentary is misleading and leads viewers to believe that the bet in question was made in July 2026.

Kalshi claims that, from the image shown in the trailer, the bet was made on May 16, 2025, when the company was still allowed to operate in Nevada. Moreover, Kalshi notes that, at the moment the receipt is shown, it is evident that it is a recorded image and not the operating app due to the presence of the word “Crop” in the upper right corner – which indicates that it is an image present in the phone gallery.

The company claims to have been in contact with a Netflix employee about this excerpt from the trailer and that even if it was agreed that it would not be shown in the documentary, the company included these images in the final version.

The 10 Netflix animes you have to see (at least) once

Although it is best known for betting on documentaries, dramatic series and reality shows, Netflix has been asserting itself over the years as a name to be taken into account in the world of Japanese animated series – also known as animes.

“ Although Kalshi showed this employee that the allegations in the video were clearly false, Netflix inexplicably refused to remove the receipt from the trailer that is circulating on the home page of your app.”, can be read in Kalshi's statement about this subpoena, which aims to remove the trailer accompanying the documentary.

Netflix has already reacted to this Kalshi initiative and stated in a statement that nothing in this trailer was manufactured, noting that the filming was made on July 17, two days before the end of the World Cup2026.

“The prominent trader [in the trailer] who made a bet in Spain showed us a screenshot of his bet, held in May 2026, before any court order in Nevada”, explains Netflix by adding “any specific transactions or bets” mentioned in the period in which such filming took place “are the sole responsibility of the individual and of the application in which he performed them”.
