YEAH officer. Rui Borges will even leave the technical command of Sporting, with the club of Alvalade announcing this Sunday night that he will announce “soon the new coach of the main football team.”

The lions also communicate that Tiago Fernandes will assume “with immediate effects, the interim technical command” of the Leonina team, already commanding the training of Monday, which will take place from 10:30 am, at the Cristiano Ronaldo Academy, to prepare the meeting against Shakhtar, in which will already be the current coach of the B team to command the reins.

Even after the victory of Sporting in front of Casa Pia, in Rio Maior, by 0-2, the truth is that Rui Borges' fate was already plotted for the natural coach of Mirandela, who saw his team have a series of negative results with consecutive draws in Famalicão and in front of Arouca, in Alvalade, in September, having a late October that will have been the ‘water drop’, with the defeats in front of the LASK Linz and Academic of Viseu, in front of its supporters, which generated a growing contest among the Leonic supporters.

Rui Borges, 45 years old, led the lions to win the title of national champion and the Portuguese Cup in 2024/25, but in the last season finished the I League in second place and lost the final of the queen race to Torreense, the II League.

Sai Rui Borges, Paul Fonseca in?

Rui Borges is now part of the past of the club of Alvalade, but there is a name that is almost right to succeed the Transmontano. We're talking about Paulo Fonseca, Lyon's coach, who must have played his last game for the French this Sunday.

Paulo Fonseca's words after Lyon's meeting in front of Angers, where he opened the door on the way out to Sporting, eventually served as an accelerator in these negotiations, with the Portuguese coach to be chosen to succeed Rui Borges.

“There is a possibility (of contact). We'll see. I like this group very much, they're magnificent. Sporting's interest? Right now, anything is possible. I don't know (if I'm gonna finish the season). Tomorrow, I'll be there with the group. I love working in France and I love the people of the club,” Lyon’s flash-view leader said in statements to Ligue 1+.

The talks with Sporting have been taking place for a few days, even Paulo Fonseca being the priority of Frederico Varandas and the situation has been unfolding and moving to a good port, although there is no contract signed so far, although the French press has agreed as closed.
