A Cape Verde Judiciary Police today announced the arrest of a woman with four kilos of cocaine in her luggage, on Tuesday, at the airport of São Vicente, after a flight from Brazil with a stop in Lisbon.
The 22-year-old Brazilian woman is suspected of drug trafficking and was in custody, the Cape Verdean PJ reported.
The arrest occurred on the arrival of a flight from Salvador, Brazil, with a stopover in Lisbon.
Four packs of cocaine powder with a gross weight of four kilos “were concealed in the passenger’s luggage”, he said.
The arrests and operations to combat drug trafficking are frequent in Cape Verde.
In July, the PJ of the archipelago announced the arrest of 12 people and the dismantling of a trafficking network with international connections.
In 2024, security forces from several countries seized 1.6 tons of cocaine in Cape Verde, valued at 50 million dollars (about EUR 47.84 million), in an operation against drug trafficking in West Africa, which took place between October and November.
