Portugal started the year with a budget deficit of 0.7% of GDP, according to the data for the first quarter released today by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

 

“ Considering the quarterly values and not the year ended in the quarter, the balance of PAs in the 1st quarter of 2026 was set at -510 million euros, corresponding to -0.7% of GDP, which compares with 0.0% in the homologous period. ", reads the highlight of the NSI.
