“ O our film premieres in May 2027. It is an honor to launch it exactly on the same weekend that the original ‘Star Wars’ came out 50 years earlier,” said director Shawn Levy during the Disney Entertainment Showcase, which took place at the D23 convention this morning in Anaheim, Southern California.
“Starfighter incorporates the themes of hope and family that have always been central to these films,” he said, adding that “in a period of time that has never been shown in a Star Wars adventure.”.
The story follows a pilot named Kade Auberon, played by Ryan Gosling, who also stepped on the Honda Center stage in Anaheim to show the first images of the new film.
“Kade is a guy who comes from the wrong side of the galaxy and whose fate is intertwined with the fastest starfighter ever built,” the actor described. In the images, Kade flies through alien landscapes never seen in the Star Wars saga, including skyscrapers made of water.
“I owe Disney a lot,” Gosling said, who started his career as a kid at the Mickey Mouse Club.
“ I am back 30 years later and is changing my life again,” he said.
Still in the universe created by Lucasfilm, Disney lifted the veil over the second season of "Ahsoka", which is starring Rosario Dawson and again involves Anakin Skywalker, incarnated by Hayden Christensen. According to the actor, Ahsoka will be asked whether or not it is a cede when the season opens on January 20, 2027.
At Marvel, Kevin Feige announced the debut of the new film "X-Men" for May 5, 2028, featuring Jake Schreier and the release of a cast including Adam Driver, Sadie Sink, Kit Connor and Christopher Abbott.
The responsible also praised the “large cast” of “The Avengers: Doomsday”, which premieres on December 18 of this year and joins practically the entire cinematic universe of Marvel.
Disney Entertainment Showcase opened with the words of CEO Josh D’Amaro, who debuted at a D23 convention — the main global Disney fan event — as head of the company.
“ Our business is not simply entertaining people, it is also creating a place where they feel they belong, who are at home”, said the CEO.
The 2026 edition of the D23, which takes place every two years, runs until Sunday in Anaheim, California.
