“ We spent eight years together. The first ones were better than the last ones, but we've been having conversations with teams since last year and it's finally been announced. So I'm really, really happy to join Honda and I'm looking forward to it. But we still have eleven races left, so we have to stay focused on that”, he said.
Then Wednesday was asked about the possibility of renewing you with Yamanha and denied that there were negotiations.
“I spent my entire career at MotoGP with Yamaha. Of course, I was extremely happy and grateful to Yamaha. But I felt it was the right time to change. I needed fresh air, new people, a new project. He needed a change in all aspects, both mentally and at the level of the technical package”, he said.
Still, the pilot revealed that he will take a Yamaha mechanic with him to Honda, reiterating the desire to work with a renewed team in the following season.
About the future in Honda, the 27-year-old pilot assures that the coming times of the project excited him and left in the air another reason that made him want to go to the construction company.
“ We know that they have also been in a difficult situation, but the growth they have achieved in recent years, the project that is coming in the future, is something that made me want to go there and some more things that I cannot tell you”, he stressed.
Regarding motorcycles that can be more competitive in 2027, Wednesday devalues these predictions because it reminds that there may be changes in income around the changes applied to the category. So he admits that change may be a risk to his career.
“ The bikes that run now, with all the changes and especially the tires, may not work next year. So, of course, it's a bet. But I wouldn't say it's a total bet, because I think there are a lot of things behind the scenes to consider. We had many meetings with various teams and with Honda I got very good answers to my questions and it made me want to take this step ", shot.
It is recalled that the French pilot, who was world champion in 2021, finished the last season in the ninth position with 201 points added.
