O portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel said today to have “an optimistic expectation” about the process of political transition in Venezuela, exalting the return to the country of the opposition and Nobel Peace 2025, María Corina Machado.

“ The processes of political transition, as was the Spanish process, as was the Portuguese process, as was the process in many Eastern countries, are complex processes. What is important is that we end the free, fair, inclusive elections, in which everyone can participate,” said Paulo Rangel, in response to Mr Rodrigo Saraiva of the Liberal Initiative, in a parliamentary hearing on the specialisation of the state budget proposal for the coming year (OE2027).

For Rangel, “this way is going” and the return of María Corina Machado last Sunday to the country “is a good sign”.

After the capture, earlier this year, of former President Nicolás Maduro by the American forces, his former vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, took over the interim presidency of Venezuela.

“ We see some positive signs of the transitional government,” said the head of Portuguese diplomacy, who, he added, has also sought to have a “positive influence in the sense that things go towards the desired outcome”.

“ I even have a positive expectation, but we know that transition processes are difficult, complex processes, that can really have advances and setbacks”, he said.

For Rangel, “a positive evolution” is observed, which should be “encouraged”.

Delcy Rodriguez alerts “radicals” after return of Maria Corina Machado

Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, warned the “radical factions” not to disturb the stability of the country after the return of the exile of opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. The warning was made during a visit to the State of Aragua, not to mention directly the opposition.
