Daveigh Chase, the actress who played the famous Samara in the film “The Ring” and also known for being one of the voices of “Lilo and Stitch”, died due to complications of AIDS. The actress, who was only 35, died on June 16.

According to the coroner's report from Los Angeles, the cause of death was Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) but the document also speaks of other significant conditions, such as chronic use of multiple substances.

The medical report indicates that Chase died in the hospital and that the cause of death was natural.

After she started her childhood career, the actress walked away from the spotlight, and the last red carpet she stepped on was in 2013. Chase lived for several years on severe substance dependence and lived in the Skid Row region of Los Angeles.

Daveigh had been admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles at the beginning of the month, and the press said that a previous picture of malnutrition might have contributed to the worsening of her health. Her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, told TMZ that the actress died of “meningitis and also due to a blood infection”, which caused her “septicemia and led to the failure of her organs”.

“Daveigh Chase, my girlfriend, has always been a light in my life. Many people know her as a talented film actress such as “Lilo & Stitch”, “Spirited Away” and “Donnie Darko”. But outside the cameras, she faced more difficulties than usual. After a difficult childhood and a painful departure from the family, Daveigh was bullied and fought to find safety and happiness in downtown Los Angeles. When we first met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved. Together, we found moments of happiness and hope”, shared Hernandez asking for monetary help for health costs.

“It’s a huge tragedy. She was an amazing singer, and we played songs together that, unfortunately, we never had a chance to record. I ended up sober in 2023, so I haven't seen her since. Some of her friends who are also sober and I tried to find her and help her, but without success. She was surrounded by the worst possible people. It's a tragedy, because nobody really cared about her welfare. I pray that she will finally be at peace,” an old friend, Shawn Rosenthal, revealed to People magazine.

Daveigh Chase stood out in projects such as “The Chihiro Trip”, 2001 or “Lilo & Stitch”, 2002. The artist also participated in the film “Donnie Darko” and distinguished herself by the iconic role as Samara in the film “The Ring – The Warning”, both released in the early 2000s.
