O acting coach of Famalicão, Ricardo Silva, today assumed the ambition to “write the history” of the club in the Cup of the Football League, in the preview of the visit to Sporting Braga, the final rooms.
“ We can pave the way for a title. That would be the dream. For this reason, we very much want to continue in this event”, said the technician, in a press conference.
Ricardo Silva pointed out the clearance for the final four as an opportunity for the band to approach the conquest of “something unique”, but anticipated “a very difficult game” before the Brazilians.
“It’s a so-called big club, almost. At least that way they call themselves. And he has obligations,” he noted, considering that the opponent will seek “to give a strong response” to the last meeting (lose by 1-0 in the National stronghold, for the I League).
Still, the coach proved confident in his team's ability to discuss the qualifying, looking forward to a game with the two sets committed to moving forward in the competition.
After the 4-0 victory in the visit to Rio Ave, for the ninth day of the I Liga, Ricardo Silva confirmed that he will make changes in the initial team, but ensured that the Famalicão will enter the field “with 11 holders”.
“Any player I had chosen to start the match was a titular,” he said, referring to Vila do Conde and explaining that the work developed by the group gives him peace of mind to change the ‘eleven’.
The technician also rejected that the opponent's moment alone represents an advantage for the famous people.
“ When the ball rolls, it is what the players have in the head and that is what makes the difference ", sustained.
The lack of definition on the technical command of Famalicão was another of the themes of the conference, with Ricardo Silva repeating that he does not have a decision made on the will to take the position definitively, after the departure of Carlos Carvalhal, announced by the club on 19 October.
“ I know it's part of my job to lead the team until the board makes a decision. Whatever it is,” he said.
The coach assured that he would be pleased if the responsible would hire another technician and return to his previous duties, admitting that he would also feel happiness for recognition if he was chosen to continue.
“ If they say that our comfort is you, then I have to really think about things and try to understand whether I will be the right person for them”, he explained.
The Famalicão visits the Sporting Braga on Thursday, at 18:45, in the Municipal Stadium of Braga, in the final rooms of the League Cup. The two teams meet again in the same room on Sunday for the 10th day of the I League.
