Poriginally driven between 2006 and 2015, the Opel Antara may be backBut not as we know it – but as a compact SUV 100 percent electric with Chinese technology.

The possibility is reported by the body Motor.es in Spain – country where this model will be produced, in the factory of Zaragoza along with Leapmotor B10.

Chinese technology will equip both cars, which will share the Leap 3.5 platform. However, aspects such as chassis, design or lighting are in charge of Opel, who will thus maintain its essence despite the motorbike group coming from the chinese builder. A development time of less than two years is projected, in an attempt by Stellantis to face the rapid development cycles of China's manufacturers.

In May, it was known that this new compact 100% electric Opel SUV should reach the market by 2028. It will be positioned, in the range of the German brand, between Frontera and Grandland.

There are still no technical details or characteristics of the model, so getting into detail about motorizations, batteries, dimensions or design at this time would be nothing more than speculation. The same can be said of the price range.

By 2030, Opel hopes to launch four new models, including renovated classics such as Corsa and this new C-SUV – as announced on Investor Day in May.

On that occasion, the brand’s executive director, Florian Hüttl, spoke of a “significant new entry into Europe’s most important segment” and a reference “of efficient global collaboration”.

He explained that the future model “represents a big step forward for the brand”, incorporating the “next generation drawing and driving experience“.

New electric SUV from Opel should arrive in 2028 with Leapmotor input

Stellantis and Leapmotor announced the intention to strengthen the partnership that unites them, and the debut of this potential expansion should be a new 100% electric SUV of Opel with expected arrival for 2028.
